The Technology   Top

  • MAPTM quickly and selectively extracts target compounds from a variety of materials
  • Patented by Environment Canada
  • Licensed to Canadian and international companies to commercialize specific applications of the technology

Applications   Top

  • Environmental - soil and waste treatment
  • Analytical - quality control, environmental samples
  • Agricultural - pesticides, biomass
  • Agri-Food - flavours, colours, essential oils
  • Biomedical - metabolites, new drugs

Comparison With Conventional Methods   Top

  • Reduces: production time, energy use, solvent consumption,
  • Reduction: wastes generated
  • Increases: yields and purity
REDUCED OPERATING COSTS <=> "GREEN" TECHNOLOGY

MAP PILOT-PLANT:
MAP Pilot Plant
1. Solvent and material feed
2. Progressing cavity pump
3. Microwave process cavity
4. To separation and solvent recovery units
5. Waveguide
6. Microwave generator

Process Characteristics   Top

Production Capacity - 0.5 tonne material/hour
Power Output - 6 kW
Microwave Frequency - 2450 MHz
Solvent - selected based on solubility of target compound, transparency to microwave, and regulatory restrictions
Solvent to Material Ratio - selected based on laboratory results and the flow behaviour of the test material in the solvent.
